At the organisational level, it is recommended to engage in a better management of volunteering resources. We have identified a mismatch between the expectations of today’s volunteers and the offer provided by the sport organisations. Voluntary organisations should set up volunteering policies to provide a more favourable environment for volunteers and conclude that professionalization of human resource management practices is needed to improve the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers.
