Physical activity in UN resolution
High-level Recognition of Physical Activity as a solution to the control of non‐communicable diseases

Physical activity is increasingly perceived as a matter of importance within the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN) system. The International Sport and Culture Association and many other stakeholders underline that this shift in attention is of great significance and it indicates that UN Member States will eventually embed physical activity to a greater extent in their policies on the prevention and control of non‐communicable diseases (NCD). It is expected that physical activity will be addressed in the UN resolution that will be constituted at the high‐level meeting of the UN General Assembly on the prevention and control of non‐communicable diseases (NCD). Thereby, Physical activity will be officially recognized as a solution to prevent NCD and herewith local authorities will have greater incentives to strengthen policies and programs to foster physical activity.

The Silent Sports Trade - Sex Trafficking
from sportanddev.org

As an athlete, I celebrate. I celebrate the skills and lessons I learned on the field (and truth be told, sitting on the bench).
As a fan, I cheer. I cheer because I love the feeling of solidarity and community that comes from a shared commitment to a local or professional sports team.
But as a woman, I cringe. I cringe because I know that some of our most celebrated sporting events, from the Super Bowl to the World Cup, are also the occasion of a terrible crime: the sex trafficking of tens of thousands of women and children.

Experts estimated that as many as 10,000 prostitutes descended on last year’s Super Bowl in Miami, many of whom were trafficked. And it’s not just American football. Tekla Roberts, a trafficking survivor and anti-trafficking activist, spoke of her first-hand experience at NASCAR races and golf tournaments.
