The European Commission launches a public consultation on the EU & Sport
The European Commission has launched a consultation process on sport.
The planned White Paper will focus on three key elements: the role of sport in European society, the economic impact of sport, and the organisational aspects of sport in Europe.
The time has now come to open this consultation process to all. The European Commission therefore launches an online public consultation, which covers all three aspects to be tackled in the planned White Paper.
The European Commission invites stakeholders (organisations and individuals active in the sector) to express their views. For that purpose, a questionnaire has been put on the "Your Voice in Europe" webpage.
The deadline for answers/contributions is 3 April 2007. Contribution can be given in all languages.
For more details on how to contribute in the consultation, please see ISCA News.

“Football is a bad pyramid” says UISP President Filippo Fossati at radio interview RAI 1, Italy
“The main problem is that football is a bad pyramidal system and the negative features of the vertex influence all the basis”. According to Filippo Fossati the virtuous link between the adult football and the young once is broken since several years, for this reason the violence is spreading among the underage people.
“Most of the thousands of kids playing football make a joyful time – Fossati explains – despite this football is very violent”. Overall there is too much competition among young players: “After a few of matches starts the selection between good and bad players, between who can be an investment for the club and whom not”. Three French Sport for All organisations unite their political expectations
France will in 2007 and 2008 approach elections at all the levels: national, regional, departmental and communal. The three French Sport for All organisations UFOLEP, FSGT and FSCF together promote the following 7 proposals to candidates on election: - To encourage the sports associations in their plurality: to preserve the diversity of the motivations and the needs - To encourage the multi-activities sports associations of proximity: multi-sports associations allow the passage of an activity to another without changing of structure and support broader contacts between people practising different activities. - To give the priority to the general-purpose equipment of proximity - To guarantee the free and free of charge access to all the natural sites - To constitute “networks on sport health” - To institute a triennial financial partnership with associations: to guarantee the continuity of the actions - To set up structures of dialogue at the various territorial levels: our federations, carrying experiments, must be associated there. The cooperating federations are in France, federation which organise sport on the basis of specific social aims : UFOLEP: round secularity and education; FSGT: in the area of workers; FSCF: in the catholic area.
