ISCA General Assembly Updated programme available

Elections for Executive Committee and ISCA Europe Candidate profiles available
The ISCA General Assembly 2009 will feature elections for both the Executive Committee and the new ISCA Europe Structure. For the Executive Committee, one position as Vice-President and three board members are up for election. You may see the candidates here. For ISCA Europe, the position as chairman and the two further positions in the Steering Group are up for elections. See candidate nominations received so far here.

Delegate file now in full online version
For the first time in 2009, ISCA presents the delegate file for the General Assembly file in full, online version. This means that you will be able to see the full list of contents, and will then be able to click on the items that have your interest. In this way, we hope to provide easily accessible, relevant information without having to print a large number of pages. The full delegate file will later also be available for normal download, and will be delivered to all delegates upon arrival to Copenhagen. Click here for the Delegate File online.

The MOVE2009 Study tour will take place on Saturday 24/10/2009 from 10 am. to 2 pm. and will guide you to some on the most innovative sport and leisure architectural sites in and around Copenhagen. Final Programme A diverse programme with lots of high profile speakers
The MOVE2009 Consortium is most delighted to present the final programme for the MOVE2009 World Congress. The programme contains a wide range of high profile international speakers dedicated to the activation of urban communities. PATHE SEMINAR Physical Activity and Health alliance
The PATHE Seminar 2009 will take place in Copenhagen from the 25-26 October 2009 in DGI-byen's new Conference centre. The seminar will gather the core partners of PATHE and focus on the importance of national alliances and policy coordination with respect to health and physical activity. ISCA President Mogens Kirkeby underlines the importance of bridge building and partnership building in a world striving for more sport activity, physically fit and active people. ISCA is most pleased with the great results that the PATHE project has produced and encourages all interested members to get in contact with the PATHE project promoters.

Online survey on volunteering in sport your voice is important
The European Commission has launched a survey on volunteering in sport. The survey is intended for sport organisations engaging volunteers. The survey ask for your experience on a number of topics relating to voluntary activity in the field of sport, including key trends and problems they face in the recruitment, retention and replacement of volunteers, as well as regarding the way the regulatory framework affects volunteering in sport in their country. Steering Group Meeting, Sport & Development ISCA President Mogens Kirkeby elected chair of the Sport & Development Steering Group
The International Platform on Sport & Development held a steering group meeting on the 05/10/2009 in Amsterdam. Among others the steering group of the platform addressed:
- the strategic process driving the Platform development,
- the fundraising efforts made to increase and strengthen financial support of the Platform,
- the launch of the new version of the Platform in two phases,
- the promotion strategy & target group involvement
- the financial reports for the 2008-2009
Finally, the International Platform on Sport & Development elected ISCA President, Mogens Kirkeby as a chair of the Steering Committee for the year 2010. The International Platform on Sport & Development provides a hub for sharing knowledge, building good practice, facilitating coordination and fostering partnerships between and within the different stakeholders. | ISCA Badminton Network meeting |
|
The ISCA Badminton Network held its annual meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 2-4 October 2009. Agreeing on the work plan for the coming years, and focusing on expanding the network and creating further organizational inspiration, the meeting convened badminton enthusiasts from six countries, chaired by DGI. Chaired by UFOLEP and held in Paris, France, on the ISCA senior sport network met for a workshop on the future development on the network on October 9-11. | Financial downturn gives more participation in outdoor recreation |
|
“In today’s economy, people are returning to simpler lifestyles — the ‘less is more’ ethic,” says Christine Fanning, executive director of The Outdoor Foundation (US). That is one of the conclusions of the 2009 Outdoor Recreation participation report from the Outdoor Foundation. Another finding is that participation of children in outdoor recreation is still decreasing, in total more than 16 % over the last three years. Read more >>>. |

International Seminar of Sports Management November 25 – 27, 2009 (SESC Vila Mariana – São Paulo – Brazil) This is an event related to the ISCA Network "Facility Management" in partnership with SESC, ISCA and USP – Physical Education and Sports School of São Paulo University. International Week of Sport for Social Change November 03 – 06, 2009 (São Paulo - Brazil) This event contains workshops and seminars that discuss Sport's Social Function and the Incentive Laws in this field, besides a Fair of Social Projects. II Ibero-American Congress of Culture: took place at SESC Vila Mariana from October 30th to November 3rd, 2009 and counted participation of many countries from the American Continent, as well as Andorra and Spain.
