A great success The ISCA International Badminton Festival 2007
The 2007 ISCA Badminton Festival offered 4 days of badminton competitions, social and cultural events. It took place for the 3rd time on the Easter weekend from the 5th to the 8th April in Copenhagen Denmark, hosted by the Danish Gymnastics Federation (DGI).
Over 350 participants from Scotland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic and Denmark came together during these days to enjoy doing sport together and exchanging with other people.
The concept of this festival focused on creating an atmosphere of intercultural exchange and cooperation; participating players can participate in single, doubles and in mixed international team competitions.
The 2007 ISCA Badminton Festival has been a great success. ISCA would like to thank all participants and the Danish Gymnastic Federation for the great support and hosting of this event.

International Seminar on Health and Sport Barcelona April 2007
60 participants from 10 European countries participated in the International Seminar on Health and Sport in Barcelona 19-21 April 2007. Speakers representing the corporate sector, universities, municipalities and sport for all organisations presented practical and newly launched “Health Sport” programmes and projects.
These national programmes represent a new trend within the sport for all organisations. Sport for all organisations are increasingly aware of and are responding to the current needs of their members within the field by offering health-oriented activities and projects.
"We see new partnerships like the example from Germany, where the health insurance company AOK, works together with the German Gymnastics Federation on Health Sport programmes. And I believe we will see much more of such programme and partnerships in the future”, says ISCA Secretary General Mogens Kirkeby.
The event is organised in cooperation between: CESS - European Confederation Sport and Health ISCA - International Sport and Culture Association Within the educational platform of International Academy for Sport for All - IASFA The presentations and descriptions of presented “Health Sport” programme will be available online the 15 May.

Agenda 21 French UFOLEP adopts Agenda 21 objectives of sustainable development
The French sport for all organization UFOLEP takes the Agenda 21 objectives of sustainable development into account. The Agenda 21 builds on three pillars of sustainable development (social, environmental and economic). UFOLEP publish its measures to integrate the concept of sustainable development in the sporting policies. The sustainable development is by definition to be taken into account by the whole of the organization as well as the organization implements specific actions in the field of education in environment and ethics.

Health - UK schools Sport and healthy eating back on the menu
Something of a revolution has been taking place in Britain’s schools. Not only is sport making a comeback, but school meals are improving too!

At the end of 2004, British Prime Minister Tony Blair surprised many by announcing that he was to set aside a total of GBP 500 million to improve school sports and tackle childhood obesity. Specialist teachers were to be employed to teach such diverse subjects as martial arts and yoga, and “competition managers” would be engaged to arrange schoolbased festivals and national tournaments. By the year 2010, he pledged, every child aged between five and 16 would be guaranteed at least four hours of school sport a week. Read more >>

YOURCE Conference Web 2.0 FOR NGOS
The International Sport and Culture Association is delighted to announce the "1st YOURCE Conference" on Open Source Youth Networking in September 2007.
ISCA understands the developments of modern information technologies, especially of open source concepts and Web 2.0 communication models, as a chance for innovative impulses in the NGO scene, leading to extends of interaction and win of additional strength and power for all involved parties. The 1st YOURCE conference on open source youth networking addresses youth and youth worker in European NGOs, who are willing to use these chances AND stakeholders of the Web 2.0 and the open source movement, motivated to transfer and adapts these concepts in a "real-life" environment and dimension.
ISCA invites everybody, regardless if volunteer, professional, pro or amateur, organisation or company interested in our approach to join this process for developing a Web 2.0 future for NGOs. | Intercrosse World Games come to Germany! |
|
For the first time since the start in 1987 the intercrosse World Games will be organised in Germany. Ratingen is named as the host city for this event conveniently located in the center of Europe outside Düsseldorf. World Games is not a tournament of traditional teams but rather a social tournament where the teams are composed of players from different countries. Male and female players must be aged 17 or older. Registrations are only accepted from official FIIC members or specially invited nations. | Raphaël Bouju |
|
Intern from the University of Lyon 1 (France), Raphaël BOUJU will stay with ISCA during the next 5 months, until the end of August. He is 20 years old and comes from the French mountains close to Chambéry. Graduate in Sport and Environment management, he will support the process of ISCA’s environment and tourism project.
Some main project tasks in that field will be the edition of a report on ISCA member activities in the field of Sport and Environment to the United Nations Environment programme (UNEP). This report will include web-site articles, guidelines, readers and organisational policies. Raphaël will also contribute to and develop the concept of sport and tourism activities.
In France, he is on the way to become mountain guide and he is a supervisor with the French Alpine club. He also volunteers in environment protection projects with UFOLEP. |

| Saara-Sofia Sutela |
|
European Volunteer Saara-Sofia Sutela started as an EVS Officer in the ISCA secreteriat in the beginning of March. She is a 20 year-old gymnastics volunteer from Finland and will be working for ISCA for seven months through the European Voluntary Service. She will be guiding the process of ISCA becoming a coordinating organization of EVS within the large framework on sport, youth and social activities.
Back in Finland Saara-Sofia is active with several positions of trusts within youth and sport in Finnish sports organizations and the Finnish Gymnastics Federation. In the beginning of January she was elected again as the president of Finland’s national youth committee. Saara-Sofia also works as a gymnastics coach for a local club and studies international business in Turku School of Economics. |
