Ms Shellie Pfohl JOINS the MOVE2011 CONGRESS
US PRESIDENT’S COUNCIL ON FITNESS, SPORTS AND NUTRITION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR to deliver a keynote address at MOVE2011

The MOVE2011 Congress Consortium is most delighted to confirm the participation of Ms Shellie Pfohl as a keynote speaker at the MOVE2011 Congress.

 

Shellie Pfohl was appointed by President Barack Obama in February, 2010 to serve as Executive Director of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Council is an advisory committee of up to 25 volunteer citizens appointed by the President who are charged with educating, engaging and empowering Americans of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to live a more active, healthy lifestyle.

MOVE2011 - 60 days to opening
World Congress – Think global, MOVE local

The 60 day count-down to the MOVE2011 congress has begun and, the congress consortium is with great anticipation to the opening of the congress. Over 300 international participants will join the four-day congress themed around the vision of getting '100 million more people active in sports and physical activity'.

Being held from 19-23 October in Paris, France, MOVE2011 will allow attendees to create new networks of peers from around the world and investigate ways on how to strengthen cross-sector links enabling new partnerships and projects.

EuroVolNet Seminar 'Volunteering, Education for life'
September 23-25, 2011 in Riga - Latvia

EuroVolNet Seminar in Riga will give time and space for further discussion between EuroVolNet Partners and other relevant institutions and organizations to improve coordination in volunteering cross Europe. The Seminar will be an opportunity to discuss challenges in education for volunteers and to discuss recommendations for the European Commission and other relevant policy makers within 4 main topic:

• Recognition of volunteers’ skills and competences within the context of non-formal and informal  education and training systems

• Recognition of non-formal and informal education and training systems

• Promotion of »education culture« within sport and promotion of sport organizations as »learning communities«

• European and national education policies/national lifelong learning strategies

Expert Conference: From volunteering to leadership in sport
Polish Presidency of the European Union

The Polish EU Presidency will host the expert conference ‘From volunteering to leadership in sport’, taking place in Warsaw from the 13-14 September 2011. The meeting will be entirely devoted to the development of sports volunteering at the level of the European Union and its Member States. A particular emphasis will be put on issues of potential ‘campaign’ volunteers, engaging in the organization of mass sporting events; on developing volunteering at the level closest to the citizen in the form of a continuous work for sports clubs and local initiatives.

 

ISCA Secretary General, Jacob Schouenborg will join the conference and share with attendees the experience gained through ISCA’s large scale project EuroVolNet taking place within the framework of the European Year of Volunteering 2011.

ISCA Badminton for All Committee Meeting
Hosted by BABIMOST on Saturday October 1, 2011 in Poland

ISCA is delighted to invite you and your organisation to participate in the ISCA Badminton for All Committee meeting October 1, 2011 in Babimost, Poland, hosted by Babimost. The ISCA Badminton Committee meeting is open to all organisations operating in the field of badminton for all. The purpose of the meeting is to continuously develop badminton in our countries, both at a national and international level.

17 new students from Latin America join ISCA's International Youth Leader Education (IYLE)

In August 2011, ISCA member organizations from Latin America have sent 17 young people to Denmark to take part in the International Youth Leader Education (IYLE), where they will stay there from August to December 2011. 7 students join the IYLE programme at the Gymnastic Folk Highschool in Ollerup, whereas 10 students enrolled in the programme provided by the Academy of Physical Education in Viborg.

 

ISCA is delighted about the over 10 years lasting commitment of ISCA member organisation, young students and schools to the IYLE programme.

It’s Not My Bicycle, It’s Our Bicycle
The Rise and Rise of Bike Share Schemes in Europe

While in 2001 only a few Bike Share Systems (BSSs) were running in Europe by 2011, 400 schemes were in existence in the OBIS countries alone (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom). Why has there been such growth in these schemes, where are they headed and what should planners do if they want to make sure their scheme is successful. We took the time to quiz Janett Büttner who was involved in producing the invaluable OBIS guide: “Optimizing Bike Sharing Across Europe: A Handbook”.

European Conference on Sport and Integration
Challenging social exclusion in and through sport Vienna, 19-20 September 2011

The under-representation of migrants and their exclusion from positions of authority and the lack of advancement of minorities in non-playing positions is an open secret in European sport.

 

As part of a the European project “SPIN - Sport Inclusion Network” the Austrian FARE partner FairPlay-VIDC together with the SPIN project partners organise a conference which looks at the involvement of migrants and ethnic minorities in mainstream sport institutions and at issues of overcoming exclusion and discrimination in and through sport.

Once calculated, these measures help to manage and evaluate our volunteer program. We can demonstrate the real costs associated with our volunteer program and the economic benefits of volunteer involvement.

Homeless World Cup 2011
Paris, France from 21-28 August 2011

The 9th edition of the Homeless World Cup will be held 21–28 August 2011 at Champs de Mars, Paris, France. This first-class annual football tournament brings together 64 teams from 53 countries to fight homelessness. Participating in the Women’s Homeless World Cup will be 16 teams, making it the biggest to date. The Homeless World Cup is an annual, international football tournament. The project works through a network of over 70 national partners to support and promote grassroot football programmes.

2nd Forum of Gymnastics and Moving Bodies
October 13-16, 2011 Paysandú – Uruguay

The 2nd Forum of Gymnastics and Moving Body it is a similar event to the V International Forum of General Gymnastics that was held in Brazil, with time for performances, workshops and academic research presentations. It involves institutions from the whole formal education system, as well as non-formal and private sports clubs. During the Forum people will share ideas and learn from each other.
