ISCA Workplan 2010 presented by ISCA Secretary General
" 2010 will be an exceptionally exciting year for the International Sport and Culture Association and for all our member organizations and partners", says ISCA Secretary General Jacob Schouenborg. The broad outreach of ISCA's projects and activities is highlighted in the 2010 ISCA workplan presentation video. In 2010 ISCA will implement among others: - The SANTE - Sport Action NeTwork of Europe project, including various international meetings, forums and seminars featuring quality management in health activities, health activities targeted the elderly, cooperation between cities and sport associations, fundraising for health activities and finally a congress on Education and Health taking place from the 20-24 October 2010 in Frankfurt.
- The Sport and Cultures in Dialogue project focusing on civil society development on the Balkans, including seminars in Macedonia, Albania, Croatia and Slovenia.
- The ISCA Youth seminars focusing on non-formal eduction in and through sport and the involvement of young people in sport organisations, including youth trainings and seminars in Slovenia, Germany, Serbia, Romania and Belgium.

PATHE CONFERENCE 2010 22-24 April 2010 in Belgrade, Serbia
" In partnership for health-enhancing physical activity" will be the title of the PATHE Conference on 22-24 April 2010. The Conference will be organised by ISCA and hosted by one of the PATHE Collaborating partners, Serbian Association Sport for All and will be held in Belgrade in Serbia. The PATHE Closing Conference will be prepared in close cooperation with PATHE Associate partners: SUS from Slovenia, DGI from Denmark, UISP from Italy and USEP from France. PATHE Collaborating partners, ISCA members, stakeholders and external guests will be invited to discuss about physical activity as a promotor of health and improving the quality of life; about cultural and social impact of sport for all; about education as an important role in promoting health and quality of life for all; and how to make Europe healthier with physical education, sport and development. PATHE Conference will recommend future responsible decisons for future action, common strategy to influence the inactivity of the EU population, and will go deep into local/national coordination and leadership to take the responsibility for the key services that directly impact physical activity. All mentioned topics and much more will be included in the PATHE Declaration which will be designed, presented and accepted during the conference. Sante Project Kicks Off!
The European-wide physical activity and health project Sante, which is lead by ISCA and supported by the European Commission with 295.000 Euro, has now settled the dates for the first in a comprehensive list of activities in 2010 and 2011. Not only project partners, but all organizations interested in health-enhancing physical activity, are invited to book the first project dates in the 2010 calendar: - 8-9 February, Paris, France: Sante Sport for All Political Communication Workshop
- 6-7 March, Copenhagen, Denmark: Sante Project Kick Off Meeting and Political Top Leader Meeting
- 12-13 June, Bologna, Italy: Sante Sport Forum (tbc)

Quality standards in Sport for All PATHE presents »Healthy story« from Danish Gymnastic and Sport Association - DGI and Finnish Gymnastics Federation - SVOLI.
ISCA members, Finnish Gymnastics Federation, SVOLI from Finland and DGI from Denmark, discuss and plan together a programme with the main subject Quality Mark/Quality Standards in sport for all clubs. Finnish Gymnastics Federation, SVOLI is working with the concept PRIIMA and DGI-DIF with Quality Mark for Club-Fitness. » We can all learn more about each other, and through this knowledge we can each make positive steps to ensure we work in an inclusive and positive environment, and bring this approach into work with our members« says Anders Kragh Jespersen, Project manager from DGI. SESC Summer 2010 Me, You, everyone in Movement
From January 9th to February 28th all SESC branches within São Paulo State, Brazil, will focus their attention towards SESC SUMMER 2010 and will offer to the public a vast programming - with great playful installations, circuits of sport and leisure, chats and meetings with Brazilian athletes, demonstrations of diverse sportive modalities, besides expositions and shows that aim to move and to aware the people about the importance and benefits of the daily practice of physical and sportive activities. This year, based on theoretical studies on Corporal Education, SESC Summer 2010 brings the subject EMBOIDMENT, present in scientific debates that comprehend the body in its totality, in contraposition to the dualism body-mind, and is based on seven principles: Perception, Sensibility, Participation, Inclusion, Cooperation, Creativity and Overcoming.Read more >>>.

Open Ski Festival 17th – 21st March 2010 in Kopaonik, Serbia
The XVIII Ski Fest Kopaonik co-organised by ISCA member Association Sport for All Serbia will be held from 17th – 21nd March 2010 in Kopaonik, Serbia. Among others the festival includes sporting events such as slalom, giant slalom, night snow show, volleyball on snow, mini football on snow, sledging, table tennis, arm wrestling, darts and much more. The Ski fest will equally propose a ski school, a training course for animaters for snow activities, a conference with the theme “ Strategy of sport for all development on local level”. The programme provides many opportunities for young and old to be active and have a great time in and around the snow. Read more >>>.

Pan-Asian Congress of Sports & Physical Education Nanchang, China during Apr. 23~24, 2010
The 21th Pan-Asian Congress of Sports & Physical Education is organized by Jiangxi Normal University in cooperation with the Pan-Asian Society of Sports & Physical Education (PASSPE) and International Society of Eastern Sports & Physical Education (ISESPE). The Congress will be held in Nanchang, China from the 23-24 April 2010. Anders Tharsgaard has been employed by ISCA as Project Manager, and will among others be responsible for the SANTE project. Anders is coming from a position in the Danish Refugee Council with responsibility for Caucasus, and has further experience from international Sport and Development projects.

New Commissioner-designate for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Vassiliou set to be offered 'sporting chance'
The first commissioner to shape the EU's new competence on sport policy said that she will, if confirmed, emphasise the societal role of sport and aim to use it as a vehicle to achieve positive change in other sectors, such as health, gender equality and education. " The societal role of sport is a very important aspect of sport policy and I really intend to work on that," said Cypriot Commissioner-designate for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassiliou during a three-hour hearing on Thursday (14 January). " We really have to use sport for the sake of sport itself but also as a tool for other policies," she continued, referring to her experience as EU health commissioner and knowledge of studies revealing links between a lack of physical activity and obesity, for example. International Association of Educating Cities Congress "Sport, Public Policies and Citizenship. Challenges of an Educating City"
Organised around the axis: "Sport, Public Policies and Citizenship. Challenges of an Educating City", the 11th International Congress will take place from 22 to 24 April 2010 in Guadalajara, Mexico. In order to broadly develop the theme of the Congress and involve different municipal departments, the lectures, round tables and presentations of experiences will be set around the following themes:

Bike Your Way To a Degree LifeCycle University Campaign
Throughout this campaign the project LIFE CYCLE promotes new healthy mobility habits to all mobility students. The Municipality of Aveiro, in association with the University, will promote and develop a number of initiatives targeting all students but especially newcomers (freshmen). These are the students most open to adopt the bicycle as a mode of transportation mainly because they don’t have strong mobility habits in this new environment yet. Read more >>>.
