Presentation

The College of Physical Education and Sport – EEFEUSP - University of São Paulo, the Social Service of Commerce – SESC SP and the International Sport and Culture Association – ISCA, with the support of the Brazilian Association of Sportive Management – AbraGesp promote the International Congress of Sport and Leisure Management, from 25 to 27 November 2009, at SESC Vila Mariana – São Paulo - Brazil.

The event aims to discuss the aspects related to Sport and Leisure Management, considering the importance of the Professional Development and the growth of Human Resources for this area.

This theme has gaining emergent space in worldwide debates. The amount invested in researches and new technologies requires skilled professionals to continue the development of the Sport Management sector.

However, in spite of the expansion observed concerning the labor market and once the sportive manager acts either in scholar, academicals, high performance, participative or leisure sport - acting in public policies, in programs developed by the third sector or by private initiative - the same pace is not observed in courses offered for the professionals’ development or specialization.

Though, the Management of Spaces and Sportive Equipments, the search of new paths for the Development and the Research in Sport Management are the challenges brought out by this Congress draw.

The event will also carry on the efforts of GEPAE – Group of Studies and Research in Sportive Administration of the EEFEUSP Sport Development uphold in 2005, with the support of the Pro-Rectory of Culture and Extension of USP and the partnership of UNISUL that accomplished the II Brazilian Congress of Sportive Management, in Florianopolis, Brazil, in November 2008.
Those events contributed, among other matters, for the creation of AbraGesp (Brazilian Association of Sport Management) which will be officially launched during this International Congress and starting in 2010 will be in charge to organize events in this area, in Brazil.

Skilled academicals, consultants and professionals of the area will present lectures, experiences and innovative actions within the universe of physical activity and sportive management. Therefore, we expect to contribute for the promotion and consolidation of the Sport Management in Brazil.
