Child in the City Child-friendly cities in Europe and around the world

27-29 October 2010, Florence Italy

The Child in the City conference 2010 aims at encouraging cities all over Europe to create a child friendly public space. Since 2002 this conference has been organised successfully every other year, and the 2010 conference is organized by FEPI in cooperation with UNICEF and Instituto degli Innocenti.

The conference will build on ideas of the former events and this year focus on themes such as right to play, participation, and assessment tools concerning the degree of ‘child friendliness’ of cities and communities. The conference is inspired by the ‘European Year for combating poverty and social exclusion’ and will further widen its scope to take a specific look at child poverty. The conference will be an excellent opportunity to encourage cities all over Europe to create a child friendly public space.

The context to head for a most successful conference has been created; now they only need participants: people who want to share their good and less successful experiences and their ambitions on child friendly cities and local communities.

The conference language is English and the language for the plenary sessions as well as the parallel session which is held in the main conference room is both in English and Italian. Only the plenary sessions will be translated into Italian or English as well as the parallel session.
