5th INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF GENERAL GYMNASTICS
GENERAL GYMNASTICS
General Gymnastics is the part of Gymnastics that is leisure-oriented. People of all age groups can participate just for the pleasure that its practice provides. It promotes health, physical conditioning improvement, with the purpose of turning each participant in an active subject in the group, creating situations of movement expression.
The richness of the General Gymnastics is in the possibility of choosing and privileging several forms of work, where styles, techniques and trends are permanently influenced by traditions, symbols and cultural values of each people.
It is characterized by the absence of competition, because it involves the convergence of interests for the harmonization and synchronization of movements. Therefore, besides the implicit benefits of body movement, there is a possibility that each practice may lead to a show performed by individuals with various levels ability of aptitude.
The Forum
Serviço Social do Comércio (Social Service of Commerce) - Sesc, in partnership with the Faculty of Physical Education, from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (State University of Campinas - Unicamp and support of the International Sport and Culture Association - Isca, organized in 1999 the Brazilian Forum of General Gymnastics. The success of this event led to the realization of the First International Forum General Gymnastics in 2001, which came to be considered a landmark in this area nationally and internationally. Three other editions were held in 2003, 2005 and 2007 having as main goals, create a space for information and discussion on General Gymnastics, promote scientific researches undertaken in the area and open up opportunities to spread this practice in schools and community.
Intending to continue the discussions, as well as bringing new opportunities and enrichment for the area of General Gymnastics, the V International Forum of General Gymnastics will take place in Campinas of Brazil, at Sesc Campinas and Unicamp, from July 1 to 4, 2010. The theme chosen to this edition of the Forum is “Gymnastics Culture: Concepts and Practices”.
The program includes conferences, round tables, courses, sessions of posters, image-hall, meetings, workshops, open tent and festivals.
